Thinking Out of the Box

Palin's rallies always seem to devolve into an angry mob of sorts...

While the government struggles over which industry segment of the US it will bail out next, it seems some on Wall Street have had their hands out with their fingers crossed behind their back.

On Wednesday, UBS' Global Wealth Management division was found with one of those outstretched hands fiddling about inside the proverbial cookie jar. Imagine that, they are stealing cookies... while the rest of us are forced to sit and finish our spinach and liver. (READ ON)

Someone in the crowd actually screamed out, "He's a N-gger," about Senator Obama at a Sarah Palin rally in Iowa last week. I received this very viral YouTube video in an email showing the rally. Evidently, Governor Palin does not manage to attract too many brain surgeons to her rallies, despite her Mavericky-ness.

While there seems to be some debate as to whether the woman in the crowd actually screamed the racial epiphet, I think you can hear it pretty clearly. It doesn't surprise me, since this is the kind of hatred and ignorance that Palin's presence on the Republican ticket sought to galvanize.  She certainly isn't on the ticket for her foreign policy experience or mastery of global economic policy.  (READ ON AND VIEW THE VIDEO)

Alright, I am tired of Elizabeth Hasselbeck from The View.  I am quite ready for her to go the way of Star Jones and Rosie O'Donnell.  She has sufficiently worn out her welcome, sung her swan song, danced her last dance and coughed in the pudding (I made that one up), but you get the picture....

As a remnant of some reality show I am certain I never saw, Elizabeth Hasselbeck is plain and simply, unsavory. Always has been.  But, in the beginning, The View's producers probably thought she added a kind of pathetic balance to the show, possibly as a thin, blonde foil to the formerly beefy, astonishingly aggressive and always mouthy, Star Jones.  But, that was so so very long ago.  (READ ON)

A white woman's leap of faith.

As Senator Barack Obama's 85 year-old grandmother's health declines, his visit to Hawaii to see her this weekend reminds us of a number of things --  human things and incredibly cosmic things.

I hope you have been able to see beyond the banal racial prism attached to Obama's direct genetic relationship to the white woman who helped raise him.  The media seems comfortable enough now to drone on about it, thinking they are being open and helpful to the cause of cross- racial unity, a sentiment that certainly can't hurt the Senator's day at the polls next week. What if McCain had picked Joe Lieberman and Obama had picked Hillary Clinton as their VP running mates?

These two choices seemed the most predictable less than three months ago.  Now, with this impending VP debate on Thursday, the cat seems to be "out of the bag" and running wildly down the street, so to speak.  Can Joe Biden really hold his tongue against Palin?  Somehow, I doubt it.  Has there ever been such complete political chaos in the span of one week? (READ MORE)

Imagine that, Joe Lieberman?? an actual candidate...  nah...  much too predictable for this crazy election...
