While I consider myself only a tiny bit of a worrier, I am literally obsessed and wholly stressed with this bailout problem and credit crunch. Just what exactly are we confronting here as a nation?

Are we all going to lose our houses, the precious roofs over our heads? our credit cards? our jobs?  No... can't happen... this is America, right?

Are we going to be wearing barrels and standing in bread lines if this thing doesn't pass?  I saw "W" on tv last night and he didn't seem to mind.  His legs were crossed and his dippy grin was in full effect.

Needless to say I was up all night watching CNN hoping that some of those Republicans (and Democrats) were still up negotiating the ins and outs of the bailout legislation and that somehow there would be a 3am breaking news story about how the legislation just passed.  The question I have is, how will this "economic limbo" impact all of us Americans day to day. Gosh, I even heard Anderson Cooper make reference to not being able to get your money out of the ATM at some point. Really?

I especially cringe when I hear that strident, "thiftier than thou" Suzy Ormond brow beat me about being so completely stupid with my money.  Well, I am sorry Suzy. But, I guess I only have myself to blame at this point. Now what?

Actually, I recently took the opportunity, when there was an initial drop in the mortgage rates, to re-finance my groovy Brooklyn condo.  But, now it seems that during the course of this financial debacle credit has completely frozen up.  Will I become a dreaded statistic before this madness clears up? I need to ask Suzy if this affects re-financing and new home mortgages the same way.

I personally can't help but be angry about the greed and over glamorization of a de-regulated marketplace that placed all of us here in this quandry.  I feel like it is truly personal and will in some way affect us all, particularly as the gift giving holidays start to creep on us.

How are people holding up?  How do you imagine this problem touching our lives? What have you heard?
